Looking forward in 2025

As Christians, we share together in what the apostle Paul calls a 'partnership in the gospel' (Phil 1:5).

Such partnership is at the heart of Methodism as we face the challenges and opportunities of this season. The Circuit Leadership Team (CLT) invites each one of us to engage in an intentional period of prayer, preparation and planning for our future as we look beyond 2025.

Together, as partners in our calling, we seek to discover what God is saying to us at this time. Trusting the God of possibilities, we prayerfully seek to know what he is saying to us about our mission and ministry in 'our bit of Yorkshire', asking for the Holy Spirit to guide us as we continue to consult together exploring the future God has for us.

The first three 'Journeying to a new future with God' gatherings took place in January & February.

This was followed by a Vision Day in April, then a Vision & Action Day in July.

Following the Vision & Action Day, the CLT created a 3-fold framework of building a team including 'Local Missional Leaders', develop a new style and approach to the Plan, and exploring new forms of governance / trusteeship to help guide the next steps towards our future. This framework is summarised in a letter to churches published in August.

What's next?

As we move forward, embracing the spirit of openness that has guided our journey so far, we will be holding more open meetings for discussion throughout the circuit. Each will focus on a specific main theme from the framework, while also allowing for general discussion.
With hearts ready to be reshaped by hope and hands willing to build what comes next, we embark together on an adventure that honours our past, welcomes growth, and trusts God to lead us into a future rich with possibility. Let us be open to change, open to renewal, and open to the promise that every new beginning holds.
